Other guests included local actresses Erica McDermott andMelissa McMeekin — two of Mark Wahlberg’s sisters in “The Fighter” — who disclosed to pals that they’ve started their own production company with business partner Keri Anne Shea. The on-screen siblings, who hope to produce television and film, are calling their operation KupuKupu Productions.
January 17, 2013'Fighter' actress developing Gloucester TV showBy Gail McCarthyStaff Writer ROCKPORT — Melissa McMeekin, who played one of the seven sisters in Mark Wahlberg’s “The Fighter,” has kept busy with acting jobs. But most recently her work has focused on the formation of a production company with other actors, including one who also played a sister in the Hollywood film. In her acting work, McMeekin had a small principal role in HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” and was a recurring character on NBC’s “30 Rock.” Meanwhile, the Rockport resident began writing a screenplay, developing pitches for both a one-hour drama and a sitcom, and exploring docu-reality programming. “I found I was collaborating frequently with Erica McDermott, one of the other ‘Fighter’ sisters, as well as actress-TV host Keri Anne Shea, based out of Connecticut, so it seemed a natural evolution that we should form an alliance, and develop our own production development company,” said McMeekin. The result is Kupu-Kupu Productions. “We have a slate of projects we are working on including several reality television series,” she said. “We are already working with a production company in L.A. to develop a Gloucester-based reality show, as well as a show based on the South Shore, and traditional network programming.” One of Kupu-Kupu’s top priorities has been focusing on the pre-production phase of McMeekin’s screenplay, “Funeral Drill,” which she described as a dark comedy about a woman who, upon hearing she is dying, decides to plan her own over-the-top funeral. It is one of the most amazing places for a wedding. I can't wait to post pictures from the day....... I haven't blogged in awhile and realize I need to post more. We have already worked on about 50 weddings this year... I need to start sharing these amazing venues. I have been working with brides for the past 2 decades. I love the smelll of spring in the air for more reasons than one. I know the craziness of phones ringing and emails. Busy weekends traveling and being a special part of many brides big day is on it's way.
With that being said I want everyone to know, I love what I do and am very thankful for that. I do my best to make everyone comfortable and happy. With that comes allot of pressure to always say or do the right thing. What I may think is right could be the opposite for others. I am always learning as every year goes by. With that I have worked with some of the greatest people who have become friends. As my schedule gets crazier and I try to make everyone at ease and happy please know I am only human and still learning too. Hears to a very happy and exciting year to come.. Keri Anne Shea How cool is it that not only do I get to be at the Beverly Hilton for the week of the oscars, but I get to work an awesome photo shoot with the Gorgeous Evalena Marie and AMAZING LA photographer Daniel Rosenthal.... I can't wait to share the pictures... A soon as I am allowed they will be here.
